I hope everyone had a great holiday. It went very fast. It is hard to believe we have already
had our first meeting of 2017 and it is almost the end of January. Since I love spring so
much, I’m ready to say goodbye to winter.
You will be hearing more about our May specialty at our March meeting. Everything is right
on track and we are accepting trophy donations. Dorothy and John have already donated for
the Veteran class trophies. Redbird Catering, the caterer we have used for our banquets,
had their business burn down so we will be addressing this matter along with our dinner and
raffle. Stay tuned for more information.
We lost a Standard Schnauzer friend, Marilyn Rand, this winter. She sold a foundation bitch
to Penny many years ago. Penny had just talked with her before Christmas. Tragically, her
relatives put her schnauzer items, which were many, into a dumpster. All that history is gone
along with many memorabilia. Penny was contacted after the fact or she would have gladly
driven to Colorado to retrieve all of it. John P. is going to address this to the SSCA in the
next issue of Pepper and Salt. We all need to think about where we want our Schnauzer
collections to go after our death. This needs to be in writing and notarized with several
people getting a copy. Upset relatives, wanting to get the cleaning out and disposal done
ASAP, often throw away items that someone would really appreciate. We have seen this
occur twice among our dog friends this past year.
On a more positive note, enjoy the rest of the winter!
